About UsLori Harris, Owner/Shoe-MongerBiography “This town needs a shoe store not a wine bar” was the advice of Maya Moon, handbag designer, to Lori Harris, aspiring entrepreneur, on August 9, 2003. That was all she needed to toss the wine bar business plan in the trash and start working on a plan for a shoe store. From there karma kicked in and Mary Jane’s was born. The name, Mary Jane’s - which is the style of a popular little girl’s shoe (you remember the little black patent leather ones you had) - wasn’t a “shoe” in at first until Lori took her pet pug, Clyde, to the park one day. There Clyde was befriended by the cutest little girl with sandy blonde ringlets in her hair. Her name was Mary Jane. The details: Prior to founding Mary Jane’s, she was Managing Director of Professional Services at QuantumShift (now MSS Group), a telecommunications software and services firm located in Northern California. While at QuantumShift, Ms. Harris was responsible for client management and sales support for over 100 national clients, methodology development for sales and professional services, and training development and deployment for clients and internal groups on QuantumShift’s products and services. During this time, Ms. Harris also provided independent consulting to Maya Moon Designs – an independent handbag design firm – in the areas of business planning, marketing, sales and operations. Before joining QuantumShift, Ms. Harris had her hands in all sorts of careers. She worked as marketing manager for a San Francisco based Internet startup firm, spent two years in restaurant management for several San Francisco area hot spots, and worked her way up in the management consulting practice over a five-year period at Price Waterhouse LLC (now known as PriceWaterhouseCoopers). Since October 2005, Ms. Harris has managed the “brother” store, Chester’s Blacksmith Shop. Ms. Harris will be taking over ownership and re-creating the concept for Chester’s Blacksmith Shop in late Spring 2007.
